Cell A6 on the Dashboard controls the charts on the Sales Report worksheet.

The Sales Report worksheet has several charts, including: Revenue by Month, Expenses by Month, Gross Profit by Month, and Gross Margin by Month. It also includes data table for each chart that give the exact amounts that are displayed in the charts. The chart can show All Years or a only one specific year. Input – Sales Data

The Input – Sales Data worksheet records all sales transactions. You input the details, such as: date of sale, transaction number, sale price, shipping price, and expenses. Then, the spreadsheet will calculate the Total Revenue, Total Expense, Gross Profit, and Gross Margin (%). There is a field for Sale Location, which can be used to distinguish sales from different venues, like EBay.com, or Amazon.com, or Half.com. In addition, you can re-name the revenue and expense headers to suit your needs. After many transaction have been entered, it is easy to use Excel’s built-in filters to calculate different totals. For example, you could filter on all sales that happened on Esty.com in the current year; then, easily change the filter to show last year.

Input – Business Expenses

The Input – Business Expenses worksheet is the place to record expenses that are not directly related to a sale. For example, if you manufacture products to be sold, then the tool that you buy would be recorded here. Also, if you spend money on flyers, or Google Adwords, or office supplies, then recorded them here.

Input – Customer Information

Use the Input – Customer Info Report worksheet to keep track of customers. There is a column named ‘Group’, which can be used to separate customers based on what they purchased (Group Examples: Ipod, P90X, Coach Handbags, etc). After you have input multiple customer, use Excel’s built-in filter to bring up the customer from each group. This is useful if you want to send an e-mail to all of your customers that purchase a certain type of product (either for product updates or for marketing).

Input – Inventory

Input – Inventory can be used to track the current inventory on-hand. This should help to avoid out-of-stock situations and it will give a more realistic idea of the assets that you have. The Value on the Inventory worksheet are automatically populated onto the Balance Sheet as assets (auto-update).

Input – Balance Sheet

The Input – Balance Sheet worksheet automatically pulls the total value of everything on the Inventory worksheet. Then, you can input additional assets, such as: machines, tools, computers, etc, that your business owns. There is also a place to input any liabilities, such as loans or other debt. All of the information on this worksheet is pulled onto the Dashboard so that you can get a realistic financial summary of the business.
